About Us

My story & background

My name is Julie-Ann, I’m married to my best friend, I know its bit of a cliche but its true.

We have 3 grown son’s, 4 crazy but adorable dogs and we live in a beautiful part of rural Leeds, where if I’m not out working you will find me with my husband and dogs.

Love food, especially if someone else has cooked it, and love a good night out when I get the chance.

I am told I’m naturally funny/humorous person who loves to laugh and calls a spade a spade, no frills no gimmicks, what you see is what you get.

Most certainly a people person and love to people watch, we humans are incredibly interesting and have so many interesting stories.

How did I get into photography?

By nature I am a creative person and love creating anything from drawing to even stripping down old chairs and breathing new life into them by reupholstering & repainting them etc, photography is another extension of that creativity and allows me to express my creative side in another format.

I was surrounded by photography from the age of 5 as my step father was a keen Aviation Photographer as well as Portrait Photographer but I never really picked up a camera until my son’s were born. I photographed them as they grew and took part in competitive junior rugby league, this then gathered pace, I became the teams photographer had a lot of work published in the local papers sport section and before I knew it I was constantly asked to photograph all other types of events and of course requests for family portraits also flooded in.

I am one of these people who if they are to do anything they will sit read and learn from youtube, books and any other information I can get my hands on, I was lucky enough to enrol on to a photography course and from their went on to gain 4 recognised Diploma’s in Digital Photography. I was asked if id like to help shoot a friends wedding and even though the thought of it scared me to death I accepted, loved it and was hit by the photography bug.

I then became a private student of one of the countries leading Wedding Photographers who taught me not just the practical side of the wedding & portrait photography world but the business side too. I would not be where I am today as a Wedding Photographer without his guidance and support and I doth my cap to him. I still train to this day as I look at training as an investment in my business, myself and also a way of ensuring my clients only get the best quality photography possible.

As I stated earlier I just love people, so Wedding & Portrait Photography enables me to meet people from all walks of life, capture their special moments, listen to their interesting life stories and along the way make some incredible friends for life. Photography for me is not a job, it a journey that as taken me to some beautiful locations, introduced me to some incredible people and is a journey I never want to end.
